About Us

CRUCIFIX was formed in 1989 by founding members Robin Kennon (drums) and Mark Bagwell (lead guitar). In 1990, Robert Cortinas joined the group as the new vocalist (and bass player as well periodically when needed) and Jeff Ross (rhythm guitarist) would soon follow to finalize the lineup.

CRUCIFIX released their debut, self-titled release in 1991 which received a multitude of praises in the thrash scene across the USA. The group later down tuned their sound and sped up the pace in 1992 and released their highly acclaimed classic, "Barriers". This propelled CRUCIFIX to a higher plateau and earned the group a spot among the Death Metal elite on a world wide scale.

Plans for a full length never materialized as deals offered to the group were deemed unworthy. In 1994, plans were made to sign with JL America Records and release "Visions of Nihilism". However, the label folded before the group could finish recording material for the release.

CRUCIFIX performed their last live show on March 25th, 1995 and have since ended the project. That same year, the group changed styles and became PRIMITIVECHO. The members have gone on to take part and/or create many other projects and explore different realms of musical styles and continue to do so to this day.

In 2012, Dark Blasphemies Records (Spain) contacted CRUCIFIX and expressed an interest in releasing a compilation of the groups material. Almost immediately, word about the possibility of this project quickly spread. Despite the lengthy amount of time passed, the group was never forgotten and a demand for ANY release (even a re-issue of some sort) was overwhelming an honoring. In January of 2013, CRUCIFIX and Dark Blasphemies Records released material from 1991-1994 (1993 and 1995 material either remains lost or destroyed). However, two tracks recorded in 1994 (but never released) were salvaged and included on this release. It was affectionately decided to keep the original title of the groups intended debut effort, "Visions of Nihilism", for this last offering. New shirts, however, will also be made and/or reissued soon.

Although talk has been circulating and considered for reunion performances, CRUCIFIX is extremely thankful the elevated sense of closure and dedicate this cd all fans (old and new) world wide that have supported.....and never forgot.

Copies of this cd can be purchased through CRUCIFIX or through darkblasphemiesrecords.com Selections for this release can be found and heard on youtube or on the groups facebook page.
