Interviewed By Arm The Pit

ATP
For the record, who's answering the interview?
ANIMAL TRAIN
Hey my name is Rich I play guitar in the band.

ATP
What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?
ANIMAL TRAIN
The name of our band is Animal Train. The name pays tribute to an old friend who has since passed on . He was an awesome dude and a bad ass drummer. He played in many bands in the TX punk scene including one called Animal Train.

ATP
So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?
ANIMAL TRAIN
Here’s the break down for ya.
CJ: Vocals
Rich: Guitar
John: Bass
Tron: Drums, Vocals

ATP
How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?
ANIMAL TRAIN
I’d say our sound is loud straight forward old school punk fucking rock . As for what makes us unique I wouldn’t say we are. We’re just punks having fun and putting our own spin on things. We didn’t invent the genre its been around forever. We’re just tapping in to what’s been there all a long.

ATP
What bands have influenced each of you?
ANIMAL TRAIN
We’re all big time music junkies and pull influence from everywhere. We listen to and are inspired by many different bands and artists.

ATP
How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?
ANIMAL TRAIN
We play out as often as we can. I do all our booking and much like in a game of chess I’m always planning our next move. CJ calls me a gig whore so I guess I got to go with whore on this one final answer.

ATP
How would you describe your shows?
ANIMAL TRAIN
For us shows are always fun. We all enjoy playing live. We always get good feedback so we must be doing something right. We’ve been lucky enough to have played with some really cool bands and to have met some really cool people so far. If anyone out there happens to come out to a show make sure to say hey we most thankful the support.

ATP
Tell us about your favorite show and why?
ANIMAL TRAIN
We just did a pretty cool show at Bull McCabes here in Austin. It was a good night we brought our A game and the place was packed out. We opened for Belligerent 86 it was a good time all around.

ATP
Tell us about your worst show and why?
ANIMAL TRAIN
Well I’d rather not talk about those. But we have had an off night here and there as most bands do. We always try to take something positive away from a bad night though and use that to get all geared up for the next show.

ATP
Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?
ANIMAL TRAIN
Well I’m a huge Ramones fan so I’d have to say with The Ramones. So as soon as time travel is possible please let me know so we can go back in time and rock out at CBGB’s.

ATP
Do you have a street team and how can you join?
ANIMAL TRAIN
We don’t have a street team and this time. We use social networks like Facebook and Reverb Nation to get the word out about our band. For updates, merch, and other stuff please go and check out our website. http://www.animaltrainatx.net.

ATP
Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?
ANIMAL TRAIN
We are currently on PoDunk Records. PDR are a small but growing D.I.Y. labe and are most def worth checking out. http://www.podunkrecords.bandcamp.com.

ATP
What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
ANIMAL TRAIN
I want to get in the studio again and record some more tunes. Shows are always on our agenda we may do another short tour in the new year.

ATP
Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?
ANIMAL TRAIN
We are very thankful for what Arm The Pit does. Thanks for taking the time to check out our band and for interviewing us as well. Cheers Everyone
