Known as the voices and guitar of the accomplished Los
Angeles rock band Hydrovibe, Mat and Heather shared
their music careers early beginnings as an acoustic
duo in their home state of Louisiana. Mat was trying
to look for players to put a band together, and I was
looking for an outlet for my singing, recalls St. Marie.
So we decided to join forces and begin writing music
and performing together. All we had was an acoustic
guitar at the time, so that became the foundation of
our songs and sound as well as the go-to instrument
when it comes to songwriting for all our endeavors.
After performing as a duo for a short time, the two
put together Hydrovibe, and much of the resulting duo
song material was then adapted to a rock format.
Hydrovibe got their big break when the blockbuster hit
movie SAW III included their song Killer Inside in the
movie and on the official SAW III Soundtrack and included
the song s music video in the SAW III Director s Cut
DVD and the SAW TRILOGY DVD Box Set. The exposure from
Hydrovibe s inclusion in SAW III catapulted the band
into a rigorous touring schedule that has kept the rock
outfit busy on the road for years; this touring has
continued to cultivate a strong following for the band.
Mat received a very early music career injection when
he was chosen to be Kelly Osbourne s lead guitarist
launching him into high-profile television performances
and worldwide touring with the daughter of rock royalty
Ozzy Osbourne. In addition to performing globally, he
has always worked behind the scenes as a songwriter
and music producer. With an increasing demand as writer/producer,
Mat took some time off the road to work for other artists
both in England and in his studio in North Hollywood,
California. With the touring on hiatus during this period,
Hydrovibe switched gears and launched into writing mode
to create songs for their next album.
While Mat was touring as guitarist for singer/songwriter
Schuyler Fisk and her mother Sissy Spacek, Heather and
Mat were offered some opening slots on the shows and
the performances were very well-received. This was the
spark that led them to begin to revisit their roots
as an acoustic duo. The two began sneaking in studio
sessions to write music specifically for this budding
project which eventually evolved to become Dauzat St.Marie.
They have continued to work on Dauzat St.Marie between
Mat s schedule as writer/producer and Heather s schedule
as successful LA session singer and voice talent.
Now armed with powerful songs and an intense live show
featuring tight vocal harmonies that could only be achieved
through a career of singing together, Dauzat / St.Marie
debuted their duo at the world-renowned Hotel Cafe in
Hollywood and are currently on tour in the U.S.
