Crack in the Shell was formed in the beginning of 2012,
when 2 life-long musicians met up on a whim, and decided
to start writing together. The intent was to have fun
creating marketable, modern tracks in their home studio
for licensing, and the possibility of playing out live.
It was quickly obvious that the tunes had taken on a
personality all their own. They had stumbled on a sound
that was distinguishable, catchy, and diverse. Feedback
started pouring in after just a few posts on Youtube
and Soundcloud, and the listeners were begging for the
record.
James McFadden had been a bass player in numerous bands
throughout the 80 s; sharing the stage with Warrant,
Poison, Ratt, Nirvana, and Guns and Roses, just to name
a few. Eventually, the guys in his band Worlds Apart
toured Mexico and were the New Year s Eve headliner
at Cabo Wabo from 91 to 96. James later went to Sound
Master in North Hollywood to learn the art of engineering,
and carried that into the CITS project.
Daniel Alan has been playing music since the age of
7 and took on his first national tour at 16. Punk was
his first love. Back then, opening up for Social Distortion
and Black Flag with his band, Sobering Consequences.
His band Hyaline also did well, opening up for King
s X, the Psychedelic Furs, members of Incubus, Dada,
Jane's Addiction, and Porno for Pyros. Hyaline toured
the west coast in support of their 2nd release, Neogene,
after their debut had sold out repeatedly on CDBaby.com.
The record reached top-seller on the site more than
once, beating out 10 s of thousands of bands in 05.
The debut release "Harder" was well received both online
and with terrestrial radio stations. CITS is broadening
its fan base and taking on larger venues all the time.
