Q1 For the record, who's answering the interview?
Chris,bassist/vocalist/pack leader, haha
Q2 What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?
. S.L.U.G. , one of those beautiful rock and roll stories fueled by chance and alcohol. I came across a phrase using slug and I jokingly asked the guys, how about this? They hated the phrase, but liked slug because of its multiple meanings. 'Slug someone', 'slug of whiskey', 'slug from a 45', etc. , so I fired back how about slug as an acronym, and S.L.U.G. was born. It is 'officially undefined', we want our friends and fans to have fun with it, and let it mean to them what they wish.
Q3 So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?
George Blanton - Drum Sean Cooper - Guitars Chris Carpenter - Bass/vocals
Q4 How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?
We don't lock ourselves down to a specific genre. We are classified as a 'doom' band because our tempos are generally slow, but if you listen to each song you will darker melodies of black metal, to more technical sections similar to death metal, and even laid back stoner rock bits. We were called 'blackened stoner metal' once, and that almost sums it up.
Q5 What bands have influenced each of you?
I am more of an old school metal fan. Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Slayer, etc. The 'newest' bands I listen to are still over 10 or 15 years old, like Acid Bath, Yob, and Behemoth. I would dare say George has very similar tastes as I do. As where Sean draws influence from classic thrash, 'The Big 4', and more mainstream music. We are an odd group for sure, haha.
Q6 How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?
I am definitely a whore, hahaha, but I have been playing music live for over 20 years. So I guess being an 'old man' puts me in that category.
Q7 How would you describe your shows?
We try to keep the energy going the entire time with few breaks. I naturally talk too much in between songs, so trying to cut that out, haha. I think we are very strong live, and you get to experience all the little details that are in each song that you may not hear on a recording. Always a positive vibe, and absolutely no arrogance.
Q8 Tell us about your favorite show and why?
Favorite show we have played so far? Was a Friday the 13th show at Zombies in San Antonio, lots of people there all digging the vibe. It was our best night yet by far.
Q9 Tell us about your worst show and why?
I won't name any names, but anytime no one shows up, it's hard to get through. I believe a band performing for a crowd creates a cycle of energy going back and forth, it's hard to be positive if no one is there, but even if there is only one person there we play to him, and show him we are grateful that he showed up. It still remains positive.
Q10 Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?
I would love to play one of the big festivals, like Wacken for example. Behemoth and Down are the first 2 bands that come to mind that I would hope to get to meet there.
Q11 Do you have a street team and how can you join?
We do not have a street team as of now unfortunately. Anyone interested could always just email me @ slugtx@gmail.com or message the band via Facebook.
Q12 Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?
Do not have a record label, and yes absolutely looking for one.
Q13 What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
In 5 years I would like for us to have at least 1 or 2 professionally produced/funded albums out there, and be able at minimum to go on successful small tours around the country and the world.
Q14 Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?
I am always grateful to anyone who is willing to help promote bands just out of the goodness of their hearts. It is truly appreciated, and I can't say thank you enough.
