Q15 Most people will never know what it feels like to be on stage in front of a crowd, what does that feel like?
Nerve wracking, Envigorating, Energizing, Emotional roller coaster, people Connecting, Fabulously exhausting.... not always in that order! I always get nervous just beforehand but once I am out there connecting with my audience and my muses, then it's a natural high like no other because energies from everyone mingle and magic happens. Each performance is different since the energy is never exactly the same, but it's always a wonderous feeling. I am thrilled that my audiences enjoy Violet music as much as I do making it!
Q16 Describe your typical stage show performance. What might we expect at your show and why we should go?
I mentally and emotionally travel all over the place when I perform so be prepared for a roller coaster ride. Impulsive, I react intuitively with my audience...anything from singing directly to someone to rocking out with a band-mate to running or dancing from on stage directly into or with my audience depending on feel, mood, and stage set-up. Solo Acoustic Violet is mellower by nature, yet still emotionally intense and animated because of the more intimate setting. I can't help it, that is just who I am.
Q17 Tell us about your most memorable gig and why it was so great?
As Naked Acoustic Violet, I remember a complete stranger walking up to me and saying I was the most memorable acoustic solo performer he had seen in years which made me feel fantastic. As Naked Violet the band, I remember our first major festival stage performance like it was yesterday. It was a Saturday night at Red Blood Club...we had earned a sweet time slot from our individual festival ticket sales. The club was packed with wall to wall people all looking to us for inspiration and there was all this room on stage to play with. We started rocking and the audience became animated with people smiling and moving to the beat. A few started singing to the chorus of Surrender and later in the set I could see people engaged by my hand gestures for Let Me Love You. I did not sleep a wink that night because I was so wound up from how engaged the audience was!
Q18 Tell us about your worst gig and why it was so bad?
It was a 1 am set for a little hole in the wall place that didn't have a stage so we set up on a corner of the dance floor. This totally intoxicated guy walked up and kept trying to grab the mic away from me. It was really hard not to pelt him with it and I did my best to stay away from him. Sonny nearly hit him with his guitar near the end.... I still don't understand why a bouncer didn't escort him out of the venue.
Q19 Tell Us About Your Dream Gig, who youd like to play with, where?
I've entertained all sorts of music daydreams from duets with Robert Plant amd Steven Tyler to collaborating on a track with Delirium. I think it would be a blast to open for Nickelback, Shinedown, or Train =)
Q20 Do you believe commercial/mainstream music has had a negative effect on new music, why or why not?
Internet and technology have blown the doors of opportunity wide open. Now it's all about finding your audience, engaging them, and giving them memorable experiences. It's about sharing things that are real and loyalty. I love it!
Q21 Has the internet really been helpful to your promotion, why or why not?
Absolutely! Finding and reaching my audience is critical to success. The internet makes it very easy to connect and honestly engage an audience. As an artist dedicated to this, I feel like I can be very successful.
Q22 Can you name a few of your favorite places on the web for band promotions?
Arm The Pit, Twitter, Jango and Sound Cloud come to mind. With so many communities emerging on the internet, it's an exciting and engaging time to be an artist.
Q23 Do you have a website, tell us about it?
http://nakedvioletmusic.com jango.com/music/nakedviolet soundcloud.com/britte_nv Naked Violet Music has been dormant for too long... Violet's back in the swing of now with more focus than ever before. Feel free to comment on all my links. I love to hear from everybody!
Q24 Do you have a street team and how can you join?
Not yet! I am starting my grass roots efforts locally in ABQ. Email me at apoetwhosings@gmail.com or Tweet me @nakedviolet (preferably DM) Thank you kindly for inviting me to be a part of your community!
Q25 Are you looking to get a record deal, why or why not?
No, I am not ready...yet. Labels look for bands that have built a regional fan base. It's more about business partnership now, not so much artist development like in the past.
Q26 What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
Songwriting, Collaboration, Music for commercials, film, and TV .... a small part in the All Souls Trilogy (A Discovery of Witches) would so totally rock my world. I am a huge fan of vampires, witches, dragons, all things metaphysical and sci-fi.
Q27 Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?
The gift of sharing my music with youth and embracing the opportunity to engage and react with the minds of the world's future ... Bring it on cuz I will keep talking, singing, dancing til I drop!
