Q1 For the record, who's answering the interview?
My name is David Radford and I am the drummer in HFS.
Q2 What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?
Our band is named Hostages For Smack. Not 100% where the name came from?......I think we just wanted to come up with a name that stuck out. So far that has worked in our favour massively!
Q3 So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?
Well there is me, and as I mentioned above, I am the drummer and vocalist. Our guitar player and vocalist is Chris Talbot and our bassist and vocalist is Graeme La Roche.
Q4 How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?
We are not necessarily unique but we do do things as and when we like. We don't wanna just be a sub-genre but more just punk as a whole. If we write something that doesn't really follow the rules we do it anyway. So far it has worked for us?
Q5 What bands have influenced each of you?
This is a really easy yet difficult one to answer as to be honest we are into anything. Each of us appreciates music as an art form and means for entertaining others. Cant really say much else. Suggest a genre of music and I guarantee one of us, if not all of us, will like it.
Q6 How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?
Definitely a whore now! Hahaha
Q7 How would you describe your shows?
You never know whats gonna happen.....in regards to us getting it right that is! I would definitely say energetic but it is difficult for us to say much positive as we are not that type.....you would have to ask others that have seen us.
Q8 Tell us about your favorite show and why?
We have had so many shows that have been great. For me personally it would have to be when we supported Knuckledust and I got to meet Jon and Ray from Argy Bargy. I love that band!
Q9 Tell us about your worst show and why?
We played a gig in London a short while ago and played to about 2 people......that was hard to get over!
Q10 Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?
To be honest we would love to get the chance to play Rebellion festival in Blackpool. That would be amazing as pretty much every name in punk is there each year!
Q11 Do you have a street team and how can you join?
We don't have a street team but anyone is welcome to start one.
Q12 Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?
Yes, we are currently with Chaos records in Scotland. www.chaosrecords.co.uk
Q13 What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
Hopefully next year we are gonna be doing more gigs as a tour and travel about to further places. In 5 years it would be nice to be playing Europe and afar more regularly and just have people there in there masses. We are starting to get a crowd in now and we just want it to grow more and more.
Q14 Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?
Arm the pit is another great channel in which bands can get out there more. If it weren't for sites like it we would not have had the chance to go as far as we have.
