Paragraph1:
Greater Sirens are a new wave/postpunk-influenced indie rock band formed in 2007 by brothers Greg and Tim Andresen, who had been playing together for about ten years. Greg’s guitar-esque bass-playing paired with Tim’s dynamic drumming helped shape the unique sound of the band. Nastaran Amini and Matt Whitbred, both friends of Greg and Tim, joined the following year. Matt assumed the role of a more conventional bassist, while Nastaran took over on keyboards. In 2009, Steve Taylor filled the final position as lead guitarist.
Paragraph2:
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Greater Sirens have since been playing local shows while writing and recording new material. Their debut EP, For the Birds, was recorded and mixed at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley in early 2011. Jesse Nichols, who engineered the EP, describes Greater Sirens’ sound as, “modern, sharp, indie rock that’s not afraid of the ‘80s.” For the Birds was released on April 30th, 2012.
