SYNAPTIK
SYNAPTIK

ATP
So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?
SYNAPTIK
Synaptik are :
John Knight: Vocals
Ian Knight: Guitar
Kev Jackson: Bass
Pete Loades: Drums
Jack Murton: Lead Guitars

ATP
How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?
SYNAPTIK
It's very difficult to describe our sound, we mix up genres which has led to us being labeled Progressive Metal, which I agree with to some extent, we are a heavy Metal band that mix elements of Progressive, Power, Thrash and Death with a little bit of tech. or to put it another way - "SYNAPTIK combines the attack of melodic death metal with the deadly subtlety of progressive metal. Expect a dizzying double-barreled assault of intricate melody and sheer power with melodic vocals"

ATP
What bands have influenced each of you?
SYNAPTIK
Well I can only really answer for myself, but bands such as Watchtower, Celtic Frost, VoiVod, Psychotic waltz, Death, Carcass, Queensryche, Arch Enemy and Nevermore to name but a few, sometimes influence is taken in unconsciously

ATP
How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?
SYNAPTIK
(Laughs) Well I guess I'm a whore, I have been gigging in bands since 1989. All of the band are used to gigging a lot over the years.

ATP
How would you describe your shows?
SYNAPTIK
Intense, visual, tight and destructive to your hearing

ATP
Tell us about your favorite show and why?
SYNAPTIK
Show I have played? Well I guess one of the most recent shows was amazing, we played BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR FESTIVAL UK and that was a killer gig, i didn't want to leave the stage, it just felt so right to be up there and we got a great response from the crowd. Historic gig wise would be either performing at Donnington Download festival on the same stage as Slayer or when we supported Iron Maiden at Nottingham Concert Hall. great memories.

ATP
Tell us about your worst show and why?
SYNAPTIK
Definitely a gig from years ago in Ipswich UK, after the show we were cooling down outside and a gang of about twenty idiots started attacking anyone who looked into Metal, that ended up with a few people hospitalized including women as the wankers couldn't work out who was male or female due to the long hair so hit everyone with pool cues etc. was a real shit end to a show that had already been plagued with sound issues and poor crowd. It was an unprovoked attack and sucked, but we did manage to put a few of them in hospital along with us. and no one died. Never got paid either as we weren't there to collect (Laughs)

ATP
Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?
SYNAPTIK
ooo thats tough. I guess Synaptik with Watchtower (Alan Tecchio on vocals), Psychotic Waltz, Death (with chuck of course), Dream Theater back in early days, Queensryche (early days), Nevermore, Hades (sorry Alan you have to sing two sets mate), Deathrow (deception Ignored era) and Kate Bush (Ninth wave era)

ATP
Do you have a street team and how can you join?
SYNAPTIK
We do not have a street team at present.....anyone want to help us out with this?

ATP
Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?
SYNAPTIK
We are currently signed to independent German Label REBEL TUNE RECORDS. This is for our debut album and we are hoping to take the next step to a larger label like Century media, Nuclear Blast etc as a natural progression, this is purely as a larger label can help us secure larger tours and promotion. Jurgen and the label are very helpful and supportive and we will be pushing this album as much as we can.

ATP
What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
SYNAPTIK
As above, we will be looking to increase our fanbase, write a second album, secure management, booking agent and a larger record label. Gig abroad and spread the Synaptik name.

ATP
Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?
SYNAPTIK
Arm the Pit does exactly what it sets out to do, makes it all about the artist and the music, gets the bands heard and understands how difficult it can be to increase a bands fanbase and popularity. Supporting new talent, they know that the new smaller bands of today are the huge stadium filling legends of tomorrow in waiting. Synaptik hope to be one of those and with their help the sky is the limit. Bring it on! Synaptik rising \m/
