For the record, who's answering the interview?
3d IN YOUR FACE
My name is Sam Spade, I am the bass player and publicist for the band.

ATP
What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?
3d IN YOUR FACE
Our band is 3D In Your Face. The name actually was created by our singer and founding member Alan “Hot Rod” King back in 1999. He was looking for a name that captured the image of the band every time someone said it. He wanted a name that summed up the 80’s, the over-the-top Rock N Roll spectacle, and the pure celebration of Rock N Roll. When you say 3D In Your Face you know you are going to get something that no one else can deliver.

How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?
3d IN YOUR FACE
I like to describe 3D In Your Face as a pure and simple Rock N Roll band. Now that being said we are a glam slam, powerhouse of emotion. We are attitude and raw energy. We are sex, drugs, and rock n roll. We are loud, aggressive, and dirty. We are sweat and blood mixed with caffeine and kerosene. 3D In Your Face isn’t your typical band. I’m not afraid to say that we are a hair band.

What bands have influenced each of you?
3d IN YOUR FACE
The list could go on forever. I will name a few that really started the ball rolling for us. We are influenced by KISS, The New York Dolls, The Who, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, The Who, Guns N’ Roses, Van Halen, Motley Crue, AC/DC, The Clash, Whitesnake, and last but not least The King of Rock N Roll himself Elvis Presley.

How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?
3d IN YOUR FACE
I like to think that we all have a lot of stage experience. This year 3D In Your Face is celebrating 15 years as a travel rock n roll circus. I have been with this band for close to 9 years and the other guys have been doing it for even longer. That being said there are still things that I learn every I turn my amp on and get in front of an audience. It’s always different and you must keep your wits about you especially in this band. The lights, smoke, and fire tend to mess with you while you’re playing and there is nothing that can prepare you for something like that. Not to mention every audience is different and you never know what they are going to throw at you. But I would say I love being on stage. It’s what I live for. Whore it is.

How would you describe your shows?
3d IN YOUR FACE
Our shows are big, loud, and most of all fun. We are running a three ring circus set to the soundtrack of 1989. It’s a glorious celebration of Rock N Roll at it’s finest. The amps are loud, the pants are tight, and the crowd is generally full of girls. We do it right. It’s a treat for the senses. Pyro and fog mixing with a lasers and lights pretty much sets the scene for us to do what we do best. Our job is to give every member of the crowd their money’s worth. We want each person to walk away saying “Damn that band really left it all out there on the stage”.

Tell us about your favorite show and why?
3d IN YOUR FACE
My favorite show actually took place in my hometown of Fremont, Nebraska. We were hired by the city to perform at their annual street dance. It was like a homecoming party just for me on Main Street in the city I grew up. We brought out the big guns and delivered a particularly memorable night of music to these people. I knew almost the entire crowd of 1,500 people. My mom was there, my dad was there, and we just destroyed the place. It’s really nice to play a show and look down from stage and seeing your hometown just go bananas for your songs. I even made the front page of the local paper and rode in the cities parade the following day.

Tell us about your worst show and why?
3d IN YOUR FACE
Anytime we get a chance to play it’s a good day but every band no matter what has had some bad shows. Ours usually are caused by weather. Being from Nebraska you never really know what to expect. Our stage load in’s and loud out’s usually take around 2 hours because of the amount of production. On this particular evening we were playing outside and a big storm kicked up and started dumping rain in sheets. We had to stop the show and pack everything up in the mud and water before it got ruined. The rain was coming down sideways and we were packing up guitar and drums. Let’s just say the bus ride was a little quite that night.

Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?
3d IN YOUR FACE
My dream show would consist of a bunch of really cool up and coming sleaze rock bands all put together on the same bill that traveled around the world for a year. All guys that are still hungry, without egos, and not in it for the money. I want to go out and do shows with bands like Crashdiet, Hardcore Superstar, and Lynam. No agendas just pure love for the genre we are creating.

Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?
3d IN YOUR FACE
At the moment we are very proud to say that 3D In Your Face is an independent band by rock fans for rock fans. I don’t find anything wrong with record labels and if one approached us we would be interested but right now we are definitely enjoying being our own bosses. We have created something without the help of anyone else and that is pretty cool. If the time comes and we look to sign with a label I hope it’s one that appreciates the music just as much as we do. I don’t want to be another band that gets lost in the shuffle.

What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?
3d IN YOUR FACE
I just did an interview with this question. It’s really pretty simple. For the next year we are continuing to tour and play as many shows as possible. As long as there is still a demand for this type of music we will be there. As I sit here writing this we are about halfway through the writing process of our next full release. Hopefully within a few months we will be releasing a new single and a new video and before long a brand new album. As for the next five years, I would be completely happy with writing and releasing 5 more albums and continuing to play shows all over the country. I haven’t unpacked my suitcase in two years and I don’t plan on doing it anytime soon.

Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?
3d IN YOUR FACE
Arm The Pit is a beacon in the shark infested waters of the music business. Arm The Pit is a website created to showcase bands that wouldn’t get the time of day from other music sites. It’s a way to get your music out there to the world without a major contract or distributing deal. It’s a site for independent bands to flourish. Arm The Pit is saving Rock N Roll music one interview at a time. Thank you John Nowinsky for doing your part to save music.
